Q&A
What is LimoLiner?
LimoLiner is a first-class 28-passenger express Liner and a state-of-the-art
business travel center all rolled into one. It provides business travelers
commuting between Boston and New York with the very best in civilized executive-class
service, comfort and convenience.
Where will LimoLiner go?
LimoLiner offers you daily trips between the Hilton Boston
Back Bay and the Hilton New York in Midtown Manhattan. LimoLiner will
also stop in Framingham, MA (on request) to accommodate companies and
individuals in the MetroWest area.
What makes LimoLiner so special?
LimoLiner offers business travelers high-quality, personal business services
that enable them to be productive en route for their entire trip. It’s
the only travel alternative between Boston and New York with free, onboard wireless Internet access, seatside power outlets, clear and constant cell phone
reception, and worktables for meetings. A professional onboard travel
attendant will make sure that your needs are fully met from snacks to
complimentary magazines and pillows. In short,
it’s a semi-private office on the road with all the amenities of
your office without the interruptions. And all of our seats
are reserved in advance so you won’t have any annoying lines, unruly crowds or
time-consuming, demeaning check-ins.
What if travelers prefer to relax instead of work while on board?
The LimoLiner provides you with onboard entertainment second to
none among transportation providers. You’ll have access to two live
TV channels (business and news), a DVD movie and a choice of five audio
channels. And, if you want to rest, just lean back on the plush leather,
business-class reclining seats and put your feet up on the foot rests.
Either way, you’ll arrive feeling relaxed, refreshed and ready to
go.
How long is the trip each way?
As little as 4 hours and 30 minutes.
What does a LimoLiner fare cost?
LimoLiner offers one low fare of just $89 each way.
Who will benefit from LimoLiner service?
Executives and professionals who want a hassle-free alternative to air
or rail travel – one that allows them to be more productive from
departure to arrival. It’s perfect for frequent travelers who want
to work comfortably or relax en route and arrive feeling ready to go --
not ready to retire. It’s also an ideal answer for people who are
just plain fed up with the growing number of air and rail travel complaints
one hears about these days – from poor service and frequent delays
to unpredictable and restrictive fares.
Is LimoLiner for everyone?
No. It’s designed for frequent business travelers who want to travel
from downtown Boston to downtown New York. If they live or
work too far from our selected departure points, air travel may be more
appropriate. This is a premium service for small numbers of passengers
who want to exercise better control over their travel time. Our aim is
to serve about 3% of the Boston and New York business travel set –
people who want to travel smarter, not harder.
Do you carry pets?
No. We only allow certified seeing eye service animals.
What is your luggage policy?
We allow two 50 pound bags per passenger, that will be carried in our lower cargo bay and normal small carry on pieces that will fit in our overhead compartments.
What does a LimoLiner cost?
It costs about $550,000 to build each one. This high cost is not all that
surprising when you consider all of the state-of-the-art business features
built-in. LimoLiner’s construction is all high technology as well;
it’s designed with safety and the environment in mind.
Do you really think travelers will prefer LimoLiner to, say,
air or rail travel?
Yes, once they’ve tried this unique Boston and New York travel service
for themselves, we think they will love it and want to use it again and
again. Airport and other public transportation terminals are often too
crowded and busy to be inviting and most people would love to avoid those
hubs altogether, if they could. LimoLiner, on the other hand, is designed
to be totally inviting and inspirational from reservation to arrival.
The Liner itself is certainly a place travelers will want to be. One
thing LimoLiner is not is “mass transit.” Serving a small
number of travelers, it’s much more personal and private than that.
But, it’s also a totally relaxing mobile environment where like-minded
people can meet and exchange ideas.
How did the idea of LimoLiner come about?
LimoLiner is the brainchild of owner Fergus McCann, a highly successful
businessman who made his first fortune in the international travel business.
He is also a former chairman and majority shareholder of the Celtic Football
Club in Scotland. Fergus is a believer in the old saying that “necessity
is the mother of invention.” In this case, he saw the need for a
better way of traveling after logging millions of miles around the globe.
He became increasingly fed up with the poor service, mindless interruptions
and uncomfortable conditions. After venting his frustrations once too
often to complacent travel providers, he decided that he could do a far
better job.
How many people does the LimoLiner carry?
LimoLiner carries only 30 people (28 passengers and 2 crew) so there’s
plenty of legroom and personal space.
