Texas is one of the largest and most colorful regions in the United States. Despite the fact that Houston is not the capital, the largest city in the state attracts crowds of tourists. People come here to see the NASA center, relax on the Gulf of Mexico and taste the local cuisine.

Texas is located in the south of the country, bordered by Mexico and the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The city itself is located 260 km from the capital of the region, Austin, 510 km to New Orleans, about 500 km to the border with Mexico.

There are 19 museums in total, 11 of them are free. If you think museums are boring, get ready to change your mind. Many of them have valuable collections and are rich in interactive entertainment.
All year round, you can visit, for example, the Museum of Modern Art, the Lawndale Art Center, the Texas Society of Asia Center, the Menil Collection. Moreover, all of them are within walking distance from each other, and another attraction is located a little to the side – the Rothko chapel, the interior of which is a work of modern art. On the walls are paintings by the author – Marko Rothko.
Please note that the Children’s Museum, the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences, the Museum of Fine Arts and a variety of other institutions also open their doors free of charge on Thursday. On other days, the entrance ticket will be $ 10-25. You can find out more on the district’s official website.
By the way, we definitely recommend purchasing the Houston CityPass. In addition to the Museum of Natural Sciences, it will have a free choice of Houston Zoo or the Museum of Fine Arts. The card costs $ 64, in total it will help you save about $ 58, as the price also includes a number of other attractions: NASA Space Center, Dowintown Aquarium, Museum of Natural Sciences and Kemah Boardwalk amusement park.

On the second day, we will explore the stunning Herman Park, which is in no way inferior to the famous Central Park of New York. It is located in the southern part of the Museum District, but this place is so large that it is better to devote a whole day to it.
The Houston Zoo is its key attraction. Here you can admire carnivores, rare birds, representatives of the underwater world. In total, more than 6,000 inhabitants are waiting for you. Admission fee for adults is $ 27.95.
Also in the park is the Miller Open Theater; in the warm season, film screenings and outdoor concerts are held here. Be sure to check out the Japanese Garden, take a photo at the Mekom fountain, and when you get tired, you can have a picnic right in the park by the lake.
After that, take a walk in the Rice University district, on its territory there is a library, bookstore and student cafes.

Seattle is the birthplace of Starbucks and Boeing. Tourists come here to enjoy the views of the largest metropolis in the northwestern United States, to experience its character and taste the freshest seafood. Spend a week here – the city will find something to surprise you.

Budget hotels can be found in the Seattle suburbs. This option is convenient if you rent a car (the trip to the center will take 20-30 minutes). You will also need a car to travel to natural attractions in the vicinity of the city. The rental price per day starts from 4500 rubles. It is better to stay in the center without personal transport.

Seattle is sometimes called the city of rain for a reason. Late autumn and winter are considered the rainiest seasons of the year. The average temperature in November – March does not rise above +5 ° C.
The most favorable season for traveling in Seattle is from May to September. At this time, the air warms up to +25 ° C.
Seattle combines modern skyscrapers and authentic culture. There are many museums, art objects, parks. In the vicinity you can find mountain hiking trails to volcanoes and lakes. What must be done in the city?

The main attraction of Seattle is the Space Needle Tower. The height of the skyscraper is 184 meters, outwardly it looks like a needle stretching to the sky, and at the very top there is a “flying saucer”. Tourists can visit the restaurant and observation deck, which offer views of the city, bay and mountains. Entrance fee – 35 $ *.

You need to walk around the metropolis for a long time, exploring every corner. Lots of things to do on the Downtown Waterfront. There are fish restaurants, luxury hotels, sea vessels sail along the bay. An aquarium, where you can see fur seals, seals, beavers and other representatives of the fauna, is also located nearby. And at Pier 57, you can find the 53-meter-high Seattle Big Wheel. An ideal place to admire the sea views of the city.

In general, Seattle is a city of parks, there are so many of them that every day you can walk in a new place.
Seattle will also appeal to museum lovers. The largest private aviation museum in the United States is located right at the airport. We also recommend visiting the Pop Culture Museum, which contains celebrity guitars, costumes and movie props. The Seattle Art Museum also has a large exposition – the collection includes artifacts of various cultures and nationalities, the complex also includes the Olympic Sculpture Park.

New Orleans is unlike any other city in the United States. It is an exuberant mix of French, African and American cultures. Here you can listen to jazz, visit the Mardi Gras festival and taste Louisiana cuisine. To truly enjoy the city, take at least three days.

New Orleans is the largest city in the southern state of Louisiana, although it is not its capital. It is located on the banks of the Mississippi River, close to large lakes, wildlife sanctuaries and swamps.

The city is beautiful in any season! The average temperature throughout the year does not drop below +10 ° C. When choosing a time to visit New Orleans, it is best to focus on the activities and events planned there.
In spring, rare rains, warm days, blooming parks will await you. In early March, the city celebrates St. Patrick’s Day. The Tennessee Williams and New Orleans Literary Festival is held at the end of the month. In April, the main event is the Chris Owens Easter Parade.
Summer is sultry and hot, the temperature is stable at around +30 ° C. But this does not stop tourists. In the middle of the season, several festivals are held here – Essence Festival of Culture by Coca-Cola, dedicated to African American culture, and Satchmo SummerFest, inspired by Louis Armstrong, jazz and blues. Due to restrictions, some events have been moved online. You can follow the updates on the official website.
Autumn is a busy season. The heat is slowly subsiding, but the days are still warm and pleasant. Festival life is in full swing. At the very end of September, the French Quarter Festival takes place here. This grand celebration is about food, music, art and culture of the quarter. October is rich in music festivals: The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Voodoo Music. And, of course, don’t forget about Halloween.
In winter, despite the freezing temperatures, you should take warmer clothes with you. Christmas is traditionally celebrated at this time of the year. But the most important event at the end of winter is the Mardi Gras festival. Traditionally, it is celebrated on Tuesday 40 days before Easter, in 2022 the holiday will be held on March 1. It is considered a cultural phenomenon on par with the Venice Carnival.

Bright and controversial, New Orleans will definitely remain in your memory. Here jazz is intertwined with modern rock, colorful festivals – with the cult of death, and European streets are combined with real one-story America. It is definitely worth spending a few days here and enjoying the free spirit of the city. And we will show you how to entertain yourself at this time.
